Kollam District. Located 71 km to the north of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, known for its marine and cashew industries is one of the oldest ports on the Malabar Coast. Once the port of international spice trade, the district also has some interesting historic remnants and a number of temples built in the traditional ornate architectural style. Kollam is the gateway to the magnificent backwaters of Kerala and the eight-hour trip from here to Alappuzha is the longest backwater cruise in Kerala.

The environment at Kollam is apt for ayurvedic treatment. Some of the centers at Kollam are Ashtamudi Resorts and Amrutha Ayurveda Hospital.

Alapuzzha District. With the Arabian Sea in the west and a vast network of lakes, lagoons and fresh water rivers crisscrossing it, Alapuzzha is a district of immense natural beauty. Referred to as the Venice of the East, this backwater country is also home to diverse animal and bird life. Alapuzzha is also famous for its boat races, houseboat holidays, beaches, marine products and coir industry. Kuttanad town and the island of Pathiramanal are places worth visiting in this district.

The Marari Beach Ayurvedic Centre and Warriers Hospital and Panchakarma centers are famous for their ayurvedic treatment in Alapuzzha District.

Thrissur District. Thrissur, with its rich history, cultural heritage and archaeological wealth is called the cultural capital of Kerala. From ancient times, this district has played a significant role in the political history of South India. Many rulers and dynasties beginning with the Zamorins of Kozhikode, Tipu Sultan of Mysore and Europeans including the Dutch and the British have had a hand in moulding the destiny of this region. Raja Rama Varma popularly known as Sakthan Thampura was the architect of the present Thrissur town. Today Thrissur is world famous for its Pooram festival. A cultural center, the Kerala Kala Mandalam, the Kerala Sahitya Academy and Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academy are located here.

Accredited ayurvedic centers in Thrissur District include the Ayur Yogashram, situated at Parlikkad, Wadakanchery, Thrissur, Ashthav- aidyan Thaikattu Mooss Vaidya- ratnam Nursing Home and Sitaram Ayurveda Specialty Hospital.

Palakkad District. The district of Palakkad known as the granary of Kerala, is a land of valleys, hillocks, rivers, forests, mountain streams, dams and irrigation projects. situated at the foot of the Western Ghats, this is the gateway to Kerala from the north. Palakkad derives its name from Malayalam words Pala and Kadu (forest), which goes to prove that this place as once a beautiful stretch of forests covered with the sweet scented flowers of the Pala tree.

Rajaj Healthy Acres at Perumannoor and Kairali Ayurvedic Health Resort at Palakkad are mongst the accredited centers for ayurveda in the district.

Kottayam. Bordered by the lofty Western Ghats in the east and the Vembanad Lake and paddy fields of Kuttanad in the west, Kottayam is a land of unique characteristics. Panoramic backwater stretches , lush paddy fields, highlands, extensive rubber plantations and a totally literate population have given this district the enviable title: the land of letters, latex and lakes. This land also boasts the first Malayalam printing press, which was established by Bejamin Bailey, a Christian missionary, in 1820 A.D. Kottayam is the ideal take-off point for visits to Peemede, Munnar, Idukki, Thekkady, Ernakulum and the temple city of Madurai. Coconut Lagoon Ayurvedic Centre, Ayurmana, Chamundi Hill Palace Ayurvedic Resort and The Taj Ayurvedic Centre at Kumarakom are famous for their ayurvedic treatments.

Ernakulum District. Ernakulum district is famous for its backwater cruises. The town of Kochi, more popular as the Queen of the Arabian Sea, is a cluster of islands on the vast expanse of the Vembanad Lake. Some of the picturesque islands are Bolgatty, Vypeen, Gundu and Valarpadam. One of the finest natural harbours in the world. Kochi is a fascinating blend of cultures and influences of explorers and traders.

Soft touch Ayurvedic Centre, Amrutharam Ayurveda Hospital, Nagarjuna Ayurvedic Center and Tamara Spa Ayurveda, Panchateertha and Merry Land Panchakarma Institute all at Ernakulum are the other ayurvedic centers in the district.

Kozhikode District. Once the capital of the powerful Zamorins and a prominent trade and commerce center Kozhikode used to be the most important region of Malabar. Today, ancient monuments, lush green countryside, serene beaches, historic sites, wildlife sanctuaries, rivers, hills, a unique culture and a warm, friendly ambience make this district a popular destination.

Unexplored, uncoil; the backwa- ters of Kozhikode hold great promises of enchanting holiday options. Elathiur, the Canoli Canal and the Kallai river are favourite places for boating. Kadalundi with its beautiful bird sanctuary and Korapuzha are popular tourist destinations.

The Taj Ayurveda Centre at the Taj Residency is one of the centres for ayurveda at Kozhikode.

Kasaragod District. The northernmost district of Kerala, Kasaragod is world renowned for its coir and handloom industries. Fishing is a prime source of livelihood. Kasaragod is known as the land of gods, forts, rivers, hills and beautiful beaches. The fort at Bekal is the largest and best preserved in the state.

Kasaragod displays a variety of styles in temple architecture - the unique style of the Madhur Mahaganapathy Temple, the typical Kerala style of the historic Malik Deenar Great Juna Masjid and so on speak volumes about the rich cultural heritage of the region. Spectacular pageants of Theyyam, Yakshagana, Kumbla (buffalo race), Poorakkali, Kolkali etc. enchant visitors.
